In 2001, Goebel celebrated the 130th anniversary of its founding in 1871. To honor the event Goebel used its most famous figurine'Merry Wanderer' in this special commemorative set. Production was limited to only 5,000 sets worldwide. The figurine stands inside a special scape depicting the sculpting tools, paints, brushes, and molds that are used to make each Hummel figurine. The figurine has a special 130th anniversary emblem on his satchel and for the first time ever a double backstamp with both the original 1871 and the TM 8 2001 backstamps.
M.I. Hummel products are the result of a successful partnership between W. Goebel Porzellanfabrik (German for porcelain factory) and the talented German artist, Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel. Her paintings of youthful innocence have been transformed by the master artists of the Goebel factory into three-dimensional works of art.
Every new Hummel figurine is created using a painstaking process involving over 700 hand operations with many quality checkpoints. Don't let this one pass you by!
