Home Decorators Collection grew out
of a personal passion of one of its founders, Gil Kemp. In this case,
his
passion was for two things; catalogs and home improvement. For 20 years,
Gil Kemp had been in the direct marketing business in one form or another,
but his other true love was buying, fixing up and then selling homes
with his wife, Barbara. This "passionate pastime" turned into
a real enterprise when Gil Kemp joined forces with Knights Direct (then
known as Knight's Ltd.) in St. Louis to launch Home Decorators Collection.From
a modest beginning, Home Decorators Collection has grown to be one of
America's leading "direct marketers" and is now the
Internet resource for home decor and improvement.
